Bragg Hill: Our Story
Building a home, especially a green home wasn’t on our list of “must dos”. My wife, Nancy and I wanted to move to a more rural area once our children graduated college and moved out of the house. Our desire for more land was as much for our souls as for our dogs. The marketplace for existing homes on a decent plot of land in the western suburbs of Philadelphia proved disappointing. These older homes and farmhouses were either too much in disrepair or just not conducive to our tastes and desired lifestyle.
The thought of building a home, albeit a sustainable one, never crossed our minds until we set our eyes on Bragg Hill. This ten acre triangular plot of undeveloped wooded land sat on the market for several years. It’s remote, difficult to get to, heavily wooded, very hilly, an overgrown mess, and just perfect! It had our name on it.
That was 18 months ago. Today, we are in the throes of designing our dream home—our last and only home on this most stubborn and yet beautiful wedge of woods we call Bragg Hill.
