Early Planning - The Key to a successful project (yawn!!!)

Over the years we see clients who consistently fall into one of several categories when it comes to planning. Those who delay engaging their electronics integrator until just before drywall goes up and are of the assumption that “it’s all about getting some wires in before drywall” and those who are right.

I jest but only a little bit…would you pull all the cabinets out of your kitchen, strip the drywall away, peel up the flooring and call a cabinet maker, contractor, designer and other affiliated workers and ask to have your new kitchen installed……and by the way it needs to be done next week. Of course not!

The fact is that electronics play such a large part in our homes today that they require significant planning and time to do so properly. An electronics systems contractor (ESC) is trained to not only be current with todays technology, but to work alongside your design team to make sure that spaces are properly planned. I can’t tell you how often we encounter a client who calls us into a prospective project at or near the conclusion of construction with the assumption that now it’s time to install the electronics and the planning for music or TV locations is either nonexistent or completely wrong.

Invariably the client can become upset with their design or contracting team for not insisting we get called earlier in the process.

I added the Yawn at the top of the page because I know that we have all heard the cry to plan early before and we have found ourselves involved in some projects earlier and earlier but sadly it hasn’t been early enough on many projects. Thus we echo this call into the night once more as we march on in our quest for the perfectly planned home entertainment and automation system!!! Cue trumpets.
